Thursday, February 25 workout

WORKOUT No. 1 on Thursday night, while Olive and I were watching High School Musical, Episode 9...on Netflix.

Manual workout, with a time of 21:32.
Distance: 0.77 miles.
Estimated calorie burn of 126.
Elevation gain of 207 feet (vertical feet set to 5.0 and up to 6.0)
The average pace = 28:05 (minutes/mile)
Effort score: 146.
My "steps" increased from about 7,400 to 8,200 for the day, although part of the afternoon it was shut off and dead while charging. So I know I'm well past 10,000 steps today.

Tuesday, February 23 workout (just one)

I had already neared 9,900 steps for the day and then got the treadmill fired up...sports stories were completed, time to get back to the office after I log this.

WORKOUT No. 1 - manual workout with a time of 14:30 and a distance of 0.51 miles; the speed was 2.0 miles an hour for the first five minutes and then 2.5 miles an hour for the last 10 minutes. I was watching more of Dynasty on Netflix (Season 2, Episode 2)...estimated calorie burn of 82 and an elevation gain of 133 feet with average pace (mile/minute) of 28:27. The effort score was 97.

*Cumulative steps jumped to 10.557! And I still have to walk to the office.

I am thrilled to say that I weighted in at just over 175 pounds today. That's about six pounds less than last week! The treadmill is paying off.

Monday, February 22 workout

WORKOUT No. 1 - a manual workout while watching the latter part of a wild season 2, episode 1 of Dynasty on Netflix. The stats: a time of 12:51, distance of 0.42 miles, estimated calorie burn of 69, elevation gain of 110 feet with average pace (mile/minute) of 30:30. The effort score was 84.

I had the speed set to 2.0 miles an hour the whole time with an elevation gain of 5 feet.

It's been a long, long day. We found out that we may not get the surgery that's needed for Cooper. I also blew about two hours going to the clinic in Alexandria to get my ears flushed out.

I should go to bed...but I need to get to the office for a short bit of late night work.

What's that phrase? "Fuck my life!" I say that mostly kidding! I don't have anything really credible to complain about.

Friday, February 19 workout(s)

WORKOUT No. 1 - a very brief one before going to Glenwood for my radio show. It lasted about five minutes.

WORKOUT No. 2 - a manual workout with varied speeds; I did this workout in the evening while the girls were watching Fuller House on Netflix. I had attended the wrestling triangular earlier in the evening. Key statistics: time of 26:26 with a distance of 1.12 miles. It had an estimated calorie burn of 179. The elevation gain was 260 feet! I had the elevation at about 4 to 6 most of the time (usually 4)...the average pace (minutes/mile) of 23:39. The effort score was 189. This should help get me back on track after taking the day off on Thursday.

I did get as fast as about 5.5 miles an hour...that was very brief. I did a high speed burst for about 30 seconds and usually was in the 2.5 miles an hour range for speed.

Tuesday, February 16 workout

LONE workout of the day/night: manual workout, keeping it at about 2.5 miles an hour and up to about 3 miles an hour; time of 10:16, distance of 0.37 miles; with estimated calorie burn of 53; an elevation gain of 63, an average pace (mile/minute) of 27:57 and an effort score of 65.

My "steps" for the day, cumulative, stand at 6,610 before I head back to the office one last time to finish up my February 18 issue of the Bonanza Valley Voice newspaper.

I made an attempt to listen to the Channel 5 evening news...and I didn't get 2 minutes into it before getting angry and shutting it off. The stupidity drifting away from Governor Walz's office was just too much to handle. And as I've said before, life is too short to be angry all the time.

Wednesday, February 10

I hiked on what's called the "Dunvegan Castle, The Highlands" in Scotland tonight. The guide talked about the era when the Scots didn't have much meat in their diets and rather relied mostly on grains and root vegetables. The big meal of the era was "porridge". He mentioned that he consumes a high amount of porridge to this day.

WORKOUT #1 STATS: 0.9 miles, time of 19:59, 98 calories, pace of 22:14, elevation gain of 51 feet.

And at about 11:35 p.m. I did a second workout. I liked this one because of its shorter time to complete.

WORKOUT #2 STATS: "Potomac River warm-up" with a time of 5:22, distance of 0.35 miles, est. calorie burn of 51, effort score of 45 and average pace (mile per minute) of 15:20.

Fitness blog!

Time to start a new blog. We'll see how this goes. Here's where I'll log my efforts at personal fitness. It will be a straightforward way to keep track of my daily progress. I am using an "iFit" app on my cell phone that meshes with our new treadmill that we purchased from Scheel's in St. Cloud on January 28. The app has a free trial run that ends on March 9.

I've got a bit of work to do in order to get at least back to where I was last fall at just shy of 170 pounds. I am back up to 180 pounds. (Sad face)

Treadmill efforts on February 7: about 150 calories burnt.

Treadmill efforts on February 8: about 150 calories burnt. I did one "half mile" manual workout. Then I did a hike in a national park in Utah that lasted .61 miles. The total time walking amounted to 11 minutes plus 15 minutes. I've raised the "Fitness Score" to 55.

Got back on the treadmill

I'll have to look at the iFit software data, but earlier this week I got back on the treadmill for about 10 minutes just before midnight...
